Background

In 2021, concerns emerged about the treatment provided to children in Kerry by the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.  These concerns included inappropriate prescription of anti-psychotic medication as well as lack of follow-up and loss of files.

Review and redress scheme

Following a review by Dr Sean Maskey, his report was published in January 2022, and the Government subsequently announced a Redress Scheme for the young people affected.

Our involvement

Coleman Legal LLP, led by Partner Keith Rolls, represented and continues to represent many of those eligible for the Redress Scheme.  A team of experienced barristers specialising in medical negligence, as well as medical and vocational experts, was engaged to work with the firm.  A large number of these cases have now been settled through Mediation, with the remainder well on their way to a successful conclusion.

Case outcomes

Our client’s satisfaction is paramount, and assisting vulnerable individuals is a very satisfying endeavour for all team members. Our team prides itself on developing personal relationships with all our clients, and we are very conscious that they have had extremely traumatic and stressful experiences.
