Background

In 2021, concerns emerged about the treatment provided to children in Kerry by the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS Kerry).  These concerns included inappropriate prescription of anti-psychotic medication as well as lack of follow-up and loss of files.

Review and redress scheme

Following a review by Dr Sean Maskey, his report was published in January 2022, and the Government subsequently announced a Redress Scheme for the young people affected.

Our involvement

Coleman Legal LLP, led by Partner Keith Rolls, represented and continues to represent many of those eligible for the Redress Scheme. A team of experienced barristers specialising in medical negligence, as well as medical and vocational experts, was engaged to work with the firm. A large number of these cases have now been settled through Mediation, with the remainder well on their way to a successful conclusion.
