The Ryanair flight, carrying 139 passengers, was travelling from Dublin to Zadar, Croatia, when the pilots were forced to make an emergency landing at Frankfurt Hahn Airport in Germany. The incident, which occurred on July 13th, 2018, was described as serious in an interim report by the German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation.
The plaintiff was one of 33 passengers who had to be hospitalised, with some bleeding from their ears. Along with severe ear pain, the plaintiff suffered a shock to her entire nervous system. She was subsequently prescribed medication to treat the anxiety and stress caused by the incident and had to attend counselling for symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.
